Wish Big

Howdy, crafty friends! I mentioned a few weeks ago that am guest designing for Card Mania Challenges for three months, and I'm here this morning to share my inspiration project for CMC #54 - Butterflies and Bows! I chose the absolutely gorgeous RoseInk image along with the RoseArt paper for my project. I used my Silhoutte to fussy cut the image and to make the oval and scalloped die cuts.

I stamped the sentiment along the left side and added a butterfly trail. That butterfly is indeed part of the digital paper but it sure looks like it's about the flutter right off the card! Just beautiful!

I kept the inside fairly simple a birthday sentiment stamped on pink cardstock layered on metallic pearl cardstock.

Fish Story

Hi everyone! I'm super stoked to be guest designing for Scrapping4funChallenges during late August and early September, and proud to showcase my inspiration project for Challenge #24 - A Technique Challenge. Come play with us! As the theme suggests, this is a technique challenge so we want to see your project created with a specific technique - masking, embossing, watercolor, tearing, weaving, quilling, folding, layering, collage, etc.

I created a masculine birthday card for a co-worker using the watercolor technique for the background... one of my favorite techniques. It's so awesome to be able to create as subtle or as dynamic a background as you want with watercolors. I used eight different colors for this one - ranging from various shades of blue to various shades of green to a tiny hint of purple.

After achieving the desired watercolor effect for the background, I stamped the focal image in blank ink, colored the fish with several gray tone Copics, and added some Glossy Accents to the water ripples for a little dimension. I matted the background on some gorgeous glitter paper.

I stamped the front sentiment in black ink on a hand-cut flag, and adhered it to the front with dimensional foam pads. I also added some sequins to the front for a little sparkle... but not too sparkly for a guy! ;)

I kept the inside fairly simple with a stamped birthday sentiment and a small fisherman in the lower left corner.

Silhouette Fairy Note Card

Hi everyone! I'm really stoked to share with you my Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog DT inspiration project for LTSCB #36 - Anything Goes! I created a project using one of my new favorite techniques... stamping on photo paper with distress inks on an acrylic block! OMG, you gotta try this! It's amazing! I played with eight different distress inks dabbed onto one large acrylic block, spritzed with water, and then "stamped" on glossy photo paper.

It dried fairly quickly (quicker than regular cardstock) and then I trimmed it and stamped the Lost Coast Designs Silhouette Fairy image in the center. I used a Dot Stippler and an additional distress ink on a sponge dauber to achieve the stippled background. I spritzed some homemade Perfect Pearls mist over it as the final step to give it just a little shimmer.

This card is absolutely gorgeous in real life. This photo does not do it justice. It's very tricky photographing glossy photo paper due to the glare.

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone! I'm super stoked to be guest designing for Card Mania Challenges August through October! It's gonna be a fun three months! ;) My inspiration project for CMC #53 - Birthday Party is a very cool 6-step birthday card done in pink and green, one of my favorite color combos. Come play with us! It's been two years since Card Mania Challenges began their challenge blog! There are lots of sponsors and lots of prizes for this Birthday Party! I created the 6-step card base using a Silhouette cut file. This is the third of three different step files that I bought about a month and a half ago... oh so much fun! I chose the gorgeous Victorian Shoe Daisies digi from Meljen's Designs as the focal image for my birthday card. I dug deep into my stash and pulled out some vintage (been in my stash a l.o.n.g. time) embellishments for the occasion - lime green letters, a pink and white polka dot bookplate and a pewter 'celebrate' charm. The only modern day items are the double-sided papers (I'm so addicted), the tag, the purse die cut and the pink Candi Minis.

I decorated the steps with the letters and embellished the tag with the bookplate. The tag hides the birthday sentiment which you'll see pulled out in the next pic.

Here's the birthday sentiment pulled out of it's little hiding place. :)

Three Faces Note Card

Hi everyone! I'm here this morning to share my latest Lost Coast Designs card sample for Linda. I used three of the face tiles from the Medium Square Tiles set, along with two cube inks and some ribbon. It doesn't get any easier than this! And so much fun! It's amazing to me how something so simple can pack such a punch! ;)

I created the background by "stamping" the Topaz cube ink (DTP) three times down the left side of the Watercolor cardstock. I gave it a few minutes to dry, then "stamped" again with the Marigold cube ink, upward and to the right of the Topaz ink. After allowing this to dry for several minutes, I stamped the three face tiles in Rhubarb Stalk ink on top of the "stamped" ink. I matted this very cool CAS background on some metallic gold cardstock and then on red cardstock.

I added a vertical plaid ribbon and double-loop bow, and adhered the unit to a white card base. I finished the card with some red Gumdrops in the lower right corner. Love, love, love! :)

You Light Up My Life

Hello, my crafty friends! I'm happy to share with you today my Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog DT inspiration project for LTSCB #35 - Running In Circles! We're sponsored this time by the awesome Lacy Sunshine Stamps and Scribbles Designs! Come play with us! We want to see your project with circles... they can be punched, die cut, hand-cut, hand-drawn, or part of your paper!

Another one of my favorite color combos is purple and green, so I chose this very cool double-sided paper with a variety of circles - tiny dots, small dots and circle postmarks - for my love card. I also chose the cute Scribbles Designs Light Bulb image because it has several circular characteristics - it's circular when you look down from the top, it has circular wires inside and the circular threads at the base. I also added a couple sets of circular gemstones and some Dot Sparklers which are circular.

I printed the light bulb image and cut it with my Silhouette, and for the most part, left it uncolored. I did color the threads at the base of the bulb with some liquid silver paint. I had a little fun flipping the lower right corner up to reveal the sentiment and the other side of the DP, and used the Fastenater and a green fastener to secure it. And of course, you guessed it, Debby Boone's one-hit-wonder "You light up my life" ran through my head the entire time I was creating this! ;)

I finished the inside with a stamped sentiment that finishes the sentence started on the front! ;)
